2026 USCAP Hematopathology Update — lymphoma, leukaemia and marrow diagnosis under WHO 5th edition and ICC
The 2026 USCAP Hematopathology Update, released on 1 August 2026, is a full lymphoid-and-myeloid curriculum delivered as video presentations with their course PDFs. Eight hematopathologists, including Daniel A. Arber, Robert P. Hasserjian, Judith A. Ferry, Laurence de Leval and Joseph D. Khoury, show how careful morphology still steers the choice of flow, cytogenetic and sequencing studies. Throughout, they compare WHO 5th edition with the International Consensus Classification and explain what to do when the two disagree.

What you’ll be able to do
- Distinguish reactive lymphadenopathy and benign marrow changes from true neoplasia
- Apply WHO 5th edition and ICC criteria, and handle cases where they diverge
- Classify B-cell, T-cell and Hodgkin lymphomas, including DLBCL variants and Burkitt
- Diagnose AML, MDS, MPN and MDS/MPN using morphology plus genetics
- Order ancillary studies efficiently and integrate them into one final report
Inside the course
Nodal and extranodal lymphomas
Reactive nodes, follicular and marginal zone lymphoma, extranodal and splenic B-cell tumours, Burkitt and high-grade lymphoma, the many faces of DLBCL, Hodgkin lymphoma and immunodeficiency-related proliferations.
T-cell, cutaneous and marrow lymphoid disease
Two sessions on peripheral T-cell lymphoma, a lecture on cutaneous T- and B-cell lymphomas, marrow involvement by small B-cell neoplasms and a review of plasma cell neoplasms.
Myeloid neoplasms in the 2026 USCAP Hematopathology Update
Myeloproliferative and myelodysplastic neoplasms, clonal cytopenias, overlap MDS/MPN, AML, paediatric and germline-predisposed disease, mastocytosis, and assessment of treated or progressed myeloid disease.
Rarer lineages and panels
Lymphoblastic leukaemia, mixed phenotype acute leukaemia, eosinophilic and histiocytic/dendritic neoplasms, plus panel Q&A sessions on hard cases.
Built for
- General and community pathologistsLymph node and marrow cases that need a confident first read.
- Hematopathologists and fellowsA side-by-side review of the two current classification systems.
- Pathology residentsStructured preparation for the haematopathology part of the boards.
- HaematologistsBetter understanding of how a diagnosis is built from the sample up.
