Inside the programme
Theory and science of trauma
HPRT’s phenomenological model of trauma and recovery, refined with international colleagues over four decades, is set against the epidemiology and neurobiology of traumatic stress.
Harvard Global Mental Health action plan in practice
Lectures follow the eight dimensions of the action plan, covering trauma-informed care, evidence-based and culturally adapted treatment of mental and medical disorders, and the H5 field model.
Communities, rights and leadership
Sessions address health disparities, human rights and rebuilding social capital, interdisciplinary teamwork, culture-based leadership, climate change and ecocide.
Where it came from
The curriculum grew out of Project 1 Billion, the 2004 congress of health ministers from post-conflict countries organised by HPRT and Italy’s Istituto Superiore di Sanità.
