AdventHealth Orlando Neonatal Conference 2025 — a one-day NICU update on feeding, infection, ethics and family-centred care
AdventHealth 3rd Annual Orlando Neonatal Conference 2025 captures a single, tightly packed day of neonatology held on 22 August 2025 at the AdventHealth Nicholson Center in Celebration, Florida. Planning was shared by the neonatal teams of AdventHealth for Children, Nemours and Orlando Health’s Winnie Palmer Hospital, who built it together, so the eleven talks reflect how three regional systems handle the same hard questions. Expect congenital CMV, human milk and fortifier choices, the probiotic advisory, outcomes at the margin of viability and a frank look at antibiotic use on the unit.
- 11recorded talks
- 6.2 htotal running time
- 3health systems on the planning team
- 2025meeting
What you’ll be able to do
- Outline screening, therapy and long-term implications of congenital cytomegalovirus in the newborn
- Choose between donor milk, human-milk-based fortifiers and other evidence-based NICU feeding approaches
- Explain what the FDA advisory means for probiotics in preterm infants on your unit
- Plan developmental care and music therapy for infants facing a long NICU stay
- Lead shared decision-making in ethically difficult cases and counsel families at the edge of viability
- Apply antibiotic stewardship to ventilator-associated pneumonia, congenital syphilis and breastfeeding with maternal HIV
Inside the conference
Infection opens and closes the day
A 69-minute session on congenital CMV from the neonatologist’s viewpoint is the longest talk in the set. The programme ends with a practical stewardship lecture arguing that tighter antibiotic use in the NICU is achievable.
Nutrition at the Orlando Neonatal Conference
Four talks deal with what goes into the preterm gut: evidence-based feeding practice, fortification of donor milk, exclusive human milk fortifiers and the regulatory warning on probiotic products.
The long-stay infant and the family
Developmental care strategies for chronic NICU patients sit beside a review of music therapy evidence, with trauma-informed care woven through the learning goals.
Hard conversations and new tools
Speakers cover shared decision-making in ethically fraught situations, current survival and morbidity data near the limit of viability, and whether lung ultrasound in the NICU is ready for standard protocols.
