Francesca Vailati’s 3STEP basics — diagnosing worn dentitions and restoring them additively, from mock-up to palatal veneers
Geneva-based Francesca Vailati, who introduced the 3STEP technique in 2005, walks newcomers through additive full-mouth rehabilitation in Aesthetic veneers in 3 STEP method. Across 12 lectures and just over 11 hours she moves from the first consultation, photo records and the ACE classification of anterior erosion to the three clinical stages — external mock-up, white bite at a raised vertical dimension and palatal veneers — with the control visit in between.

What you’ll be able to do
- Grade anterior wear with the ACE classification and explain its likely progression to patients
- Identify the cause of erosion so you can predict how restorations will age
- Record a worn patient completely with a structured 3STEP photo protocol
- Decide how far to raise the vertical dimension using an anterior stop and progressive wax-up
- Deliver white bite restorations and palatal veneers with a disciplined adhesive protocol
Inside the course
Why additive, and what has changed
The opening lectures present additive dentistry as a way to offer treatment most practices do not, and summarise developments since 2005: the anterior stop, monolithic CAD/CAM composites, newer anterior veneers and “tacos”. A lecture on additive gnathology explains how reversible test drives replace repeated occlusal grinding in difficult patients.
Consultation and diagnosis
Vailati argues many patients refuse full-mouth work because the first appointment is handled poorly, then sets out what to collect, what to photograph in one session and how to diagnose erosion as the root cause of wear.
The three steps in the mouth
The external mock-up aligns patient, dentist and technician; the white bite gives new posterior support at an increased VDO; the control visit checks comfort and chewing across eight tasks before the resulting anterior open bite is closed with palatal veneers.

Before you buy
Is this the beginner or advanced level of 3STEP?
It is the introductory “Classic” collection, written for clinicians meeting the method for the first time.
Are labial veneers covered despite the title?
The restorative focus is on palatal veneers and posterior white bite restorations; conventional facial veneer preparation is not a separate topic.
Do I get CME credit or a certificate?
No. Clinicapedia provides the educational content only — no CME or CE credits, MOC points or certificates of completion are included with this product.
