ARRS Lung Cancer Screening: Epidemiology and Clinical Presentation
Module 1 establishes the clinical foundation — lung cancer epidemiology, clinical presentation, imaging manifestations, and the problem of missed lung cancer. Module 2 shifts to screening science: basic principles, findings from the National Lung Screening Trial, societal perspectives, and practical guidance on establishing a screening programme in your institution.
Nodule Characterization and Screening Programs
Modules 3 and 4 address the core imaging challenge — characterizing pulmonary nodules. The differential diagnosis of the solitary pulmonary nodule, imaging characterization, and follow-up of indeterminate lesions are covered in depth. Histologic classification of pulmonary adenocarcinoma, calcium scoring, and eligibility criteria complete the diagnostic picture.
LDCT Protocols and Lung RADS Reporting
Module 5 delivers the technical backbone: low-dose CT technique and radiation dose optimization, use of LDCT outside the screening context, and a thorough walkthrough of Lung RADS reporting for screening results. Module 6 addresses the human side — engaging patients through direct radiologist communication, screening Medicare patients, and future directions in lung cancer screening.
