Mastering the Treatment of Injury and Pain — Whitfield Reaves’ nine-course sports acupuncture series, head to foot
Eastern Currents Mastering the Treatment of Injury and Pain 2025 is Whitfield Reaves’ complete recorded webinar series on orthopaedic and sports acupuncture, drawn from four decades of treating injured athletes. Across nine courses and roughly 37 hours, he teaches assessment and needling protocols built on precise anatomy, using trigger points, motor points, tendons and ligaments rather than textbook point formulas, for the shoulder, neck, elbow and wrist, low back and hip, knee, and foot and ankle.

Inside the course
Foundations and the upper extremity
Course 1 defines anatomical and orthopaedic acupuncture and prepares you for everything that follows. Courses 2 to 4 then work through the shoulder, biceps tendon and capsular lesions, neck posture, the elbow and the wrist.
Low back and hip
Course 5 introduces the Triad approach to back pain; Course 6 extends it to the sacrotuberous ligament, trochanteric bursae and core musculature for more complex back and hip cases.
Mastering the Treatment of Injury and Pain in the lower limb
Course 7 revisits sports acupuncture principles and the biomechanics of injury before covering the gluteus medius, runner’s knee and hamstrings. Course 8 targets the patellofemoral joint, medial knee and pes anserine, and Course 9 finishes at the foot and ankle.
How each course is built
Long teaching presentations come first, followed by a brief recap for quick reference and then high-definition demonstrations of palpation, point location and needling. The series is designed to be watched in order.

The series launched in 2021 and is Reaves’ most recent sports acupuncture programme; the 2025 label refers to this release, not newly filmed lectures.

No. It is a separate, more detailed series that adds injuries the 2011 Acupuncture Sports Medicine webinars did not cover.
