Save the tooth instead of placing an implant — Gianluca Plotino’s complete non-surgical retreatment course
Rome endodontist Gianluca Plotino, author of more than 100 articles and two textbooks, teaches Endodontic Retreatment over 10 lessons and about 17 hours. Every stage is illustrated with clinical photos and videos: prognosis, coronal disassembly of crowns and posts, missed canals, removal of fillings, separated instruments, perforations, open apices and the final post-endodontic restoration.

What you’ll be able to do
- Estimate retreatment prognosis and decide between saving a tooth and extracting it
- Remove crowns, bridges and posts with non-, semi- or fully destructive techniques
- Locate MB2 and calcified canals with the microscope, CBCT and guided access
- Retrieve fractured instruments with ultrasonics, microtubes or loop systems
- Repair perforations and close open or resorbed apices with MTA or bioceramics
- Rebuild the tooth with fibre posts and adhesive cores
Inside the course
Deciding and equipping
Two lessons define endodontic success, review the literature on primary and repeat treatment, and describe the ideal set-up: loupes, operating microscope, ultrasonic tips, modern files and CBCT.
Getting back into the canal
Plotino compares approaches for crowns and bridges, then shows how to remove fibre, screwed, cemented and cast posts, followed by searching for missed or calcified canals and clearing gutta-percha, carriers and cements, including ledges and irrigation.
Complications
Causes and removal of broken instruments, a classification of perforations with materials for floor, lateral and resorptive defects, and apical closure with calcium hydroxide, MTA barriers or flowable bioceramic.
Restoring what you retreated
The longest lesson (2 h 33 min) covers choosing the right restoration, when fibre posts help, adhesive limitations and step-by-step cementation and core build-up.
