FACET 9th Annual ERAS Symposium 2026 — how teams build, fund and sustain Enhanced Recovery After Surgery programmes
The FACET 9th Annual Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) Symposium 2026, held with ERAS USA at Baylor Scott & White The Heart Hospital – Plano on 6–7 February 2026, is less about individual protocol elements and more about making enhanced recovery work in a real hospital. Across 30 videos and a little over nine hours, 28 speakers debate audits and prehabilitation, explain the coordinator role, set out budgets and return on investment, and extend ERAS into emergency, paediatric, geriatric, obstetric, cardiac, vascular and ambulatory surgery.

What you’ll be able to do
- Launch a new ERAS programme using structured stakeholder input and Delphi methods
- Raise protocol adherence and surgeon engagement without breeding audit resentment
- Build the business case: budgets, return on investment and alignment with ACS quality programmes
- Adapt pathways for emergency, paediatric, geriatric and obstetric patients
- Strengthen nurse-led early mobility and digital patient engagement
- Handle SGLT-2 inhibitors perioperatively and consider vitamin D status
Inside the symposium
Debates and the big picture
Three short debates question compliance audits, the “secret” of ERAS and whether prehab is ready, followed by a look back and forward at where enhanced recovery came from and an interactive audience survey.
Implementation and people
The coordinator’s role, the Delphi method, starting a programme, winning over surgeons, “recovering recovery” with the whole team, and two panels on adherence and on mobility and nurse-led interventions.
FACET ERAS pathways by specialty
Updates in vascular and cardiac surgery, ambulatory and emergency surgery, paediatrics, bespoke geriatric and obstetric pathways, care beyond the hospital walls, and a floor-bicycle pedalling project for emergency general surgery and trauma patients.
Money and quality
Budgets from Ohio State and Baylor Scott & White perspectives, a dollars-and-sense panel, the return on artificial intelligence in surgery, ACS quality verification, perioperative medicine and the Temple programme’s experience.
