Occlusion from records to equilibration — 17 lessons on mounted casts, centric relation and adjustment
Four faculty members lead Functional Occlusion: From Records to Refinement: Frank Spear, Gregg Kinzer, Kevin Kwiecien and Gary DeWood. Over roughly seven and a half hours they take you from mounting and reading casts to recording occlusal positions and carrying out equilibration, all anchored in physiologic function and lasting stability.

What you’ll be able to do
- Read mounted casts for a real functional analysis
- Take accurate centric relation and facebow records
- Plan and stage an equilibration with intention
- Treat cases in centric relation predictably
- Relate intercuspal position and mandibular movement to your plan
Inside the course
Equilibration, visualised then executed
The first modules define physiologic occlusion, use an appliance to preview the endpoint, and then work through planning your stops, materials and the complications that show up in reality.
Mounted casts and occlusal positions
Facebow transfer, centric relation records and cast evaluation feed into treatment options, followed by the relationships between mandibular, intercuspal and joint positions.
A faculty panel
Guidance is shared across four experienced restorative educators, giving several perspectives on the same functional problems.

Do I need articulators and a facebow?
The course teaches with mounted casts, facebow transfer and centric relation records, so having that equipment lets you follow the workflow directly.
Is equilibration covered in practice, not just theory?
Yes. Several lessons walk through planning stops, materials, the adjustment process and the complications you can expect.
