Laser periodontology for pink aesthetics — gingival contouring, depigmentation, frenectomy and 445 nm blue laser
OHIS Laser Periodontology: Optimizing the Pink Aesthetic is about the gum side of the smile. Its six lessons (6 h 3 min, with audio tracks and SRT subtitles) start with the physics of laser-tissue interaction, then apply it to gingivectomy, gingivoplasty and crown lengthening, laser-assisted periodontitis therapy, tongue-tie release in children with the PEEL technique, high-speed depigmentation and the 445 nm blue diode.

What you’ll be able to do
- Explain absorption, scattering and selective photothermolysis across enamel, dentin and soft tissue
- Set power, pulse duration and frequency for ablation, coagulation or biostimulation
- Perform laser gingival contouring and crown lengthening, and know the contraindications
- Choose between flap, flapless and decontamination approaches in laser periodontitis treatment
- Treat gingival hyperpigmentation and tongue-tie with appropriate wavelengths
Inside the course
How lasers act on oral tissue
The foundation lesson compares the common dental wavelengths, the properties of laser light and how parameter changes alter the tissue response, ending with recent modalities and patient comfort.
Laser periodontology for the pink aesthetic
Gingival symmetry, contour, colour and texture frame the aesthetic lesson, which demonstrates contouring and crown lengthening on video. The depigmentation lesson classifies oral pigmentation and contrasts direct ablation with high-speed non-ablative pulsed diode and blue laser techniques, including the delicate papilla between upper centrals.
Periodontitis and frenum surgery
Laser debridement, pocket decontamination and flap or flapless surgery are reviewed against the evidence. A paediatric lesson explains the prevalence of tongue-tie and lip ties in newborns and walks through PEEL diagnosis and release protocols.
The 445 nm blue laser
The final lesson sets the blue wavelength apart from other diodes, with protocols for frenectomy, gingivectomy and oral lesions and a look at photobiomodulation for pain.

Before you buy
Will it apply to my laser?
Settings and techniques are wavelength-specific, and several lessons centre on diode and 445 nm blue devices; check that the protocols match the equipment you own.
