Masters of Pathology Gastropathology 2024 — GI biopsy diagnosis from esophagus to anus, taught at the microscope
In Masters of Pathology – Gastropathology 2024, Elizabeth Montgomery, MD and Rhonda K. Yantiss, MD alternate short didactic talks with live microscopy sessions across the whole luminal gut. The 38 videos (11.9 GB) move organ by organ — upper tract, esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon and anus — and finish with vasculopathy and syndromic polyps. A syllabus PDF and a separate questions PDF accompany the recordings, first released on 15 October 2024.

What you’ll be able to do
- Judge the meaning of esophageal lymphocytosis in a biopsy
- Separate reactive from dysplastic columnar epithelium in esophagus and stomach
- Classify the main gastritis patterns and gastric polyp types
- Spot drug-induced injury, vasculitis and other systemic disease in GI samples
- Diagnose HPV-related anal neoplasia, appendiceal tumours and GI mesenchymal lesions
- Settle colorectal staging questions and know when to suspect a polyposis syndrome
Inside the course
Starting points: normal and near-normal biopsies
Each faculty member first explains how she approaches upper or lower tract biopsies. Normal and slightly abnormal samples then go under the scope, so baseline histology is fixed before any disease appears.
Lecture, unknown case, microscopy — the Gastropathology rhythm
Most topics arrive as a triad: a talk, an unknown case discussed by both experts, and a microscopy walk-through. Esophagitis, esophageal and gastric neoplasms, colitis, systemic disease and colorectal staging all follow this pattern, which makes the teaching feel like sitting at a double-headed scope.
Small bowel, colon and mesenchymal lesions
Non-neoplastic small intestinal disease, small intestinal tumours, two parts on important mesenchymal lesions and two parts of colonic polyp pearls fill the middle of the course before it turns to the anus.
Slide-only closers
Vasculopathy and syndromic polyps are taught purely at the microscope, the second showing which polyp appearances should trigger a polyposis work-up.
Built for
- Surgical pathologists signing out GI biopsiesTwo expert viewpoints on the specimens that fill a daily gastrointestinal tray.
- Pathology residents and fellowsThe talk-case-scope structure builds pattern recognition one organ at a time.
- Gastroenterologists and GI fellowsShows what the pathologist sees in their biopsies and why reports are phrased as they are.

Before you buy
Is there any self-testing material?
Yes. Besides the syllabus, a separate Questions PDF lets you check yourself after the videos.
How much of the course is glass-slide teaching?
Roughly two-thirds of the 38 files are microscopy sessions or jointly discussed cases; the rest are conventional lectures.
Do I get CME credit or a certificate?
No. Clinicapedia provides the educational content only — no CME or CE credits, MOC points or certificates of completion are included with this product.
