NYU Langone Advanced Imaging of the Musculoskeletal System Up Your Game 2023 — joint-by-joint MSK MRI, CT and ultrasound
NYU Langone Advanced Imaging of the Musculoskeletal System Up Your Game 2023 is a 59-lecture MSK radiology course that works around the body joint by joint, then turns to tumours, muscle and tendon injury, spine trauma, arthritis and infection. The 27-strong faculty includes Donald Resnick, Mark Murphey, Christine Chung and Lawrence White, and five “scroll with the experts” sessions show how they read real cases. Around 21 hours of teaching, released 15 July 2023, with two PDFs.

What you’ll be able to do
- Tailor MRI protocols for hip, knee, shoulder and foot to the question the surgeon is asking
- Build a differential for bone and soft-tissue tumours and decide when to image further or biopsy
- Use imaging in rheumatoid arthritis, spondyloarthropathy and crystal disease, and in septic hip or discitis
- Reduce metal artefact on CT and MR and assess the painful hip, knee or shoulder arthroplasty
- Grade muscle injuries and advise on return to play
- Apply AI tools for acceleration, quantification and pattern recognition in MSK imaging
Inside the course
Upper limb
Rotator cuff, interval and labrum, instability and the post-operative shoulder, then the thrower’s elbow, elbow ultrasound, ulnar-sided wrist pain, wrist fractures, fingers and paediatric sports injuries.
Hip, knee, ankle and foot
FAI and extra-articular impingement, pelvic tendons, groin injuries, hip arthroplasty, knee injury patterns, the corners, menisci and cruciates, cartilage repair, ankle instability, heel pain and tendons.
Advanced Imaging of the Musculoskeletal System beyond the joints
Bone and soft-tissue tumours, biopsy dilemmas and ablation; muscle, tendon and nerve imaging; cervical and thoracolumbar trauma, the SI joint and thecal sac; arthritis, myositis, necrotising fasciitis and the diabetic foot.
Reading with the experts
Case-scrolling sessions for knee, shoulder, pelvis and hip, elbow and ankle, plus AI and metal-imaging talks.
