Posture, muscle chains and the bite — a 15-hour gnathology program from two Italian postural-dentistry teachers
Silverio Di Rocca, a craniofacial orthopedist and posture specialist, and Alessandro Nanussi, a gnathologist with a background in sports dentistry, co-teach Philosophy of Gnathology Balance of Muscles & Postures. Sixteen lessons (about 15 hours) connect the postural system with mandibular position, vertical dimension, TMJ health and occlusion, and help you judge how much orthopedic change a patient can tolerate before prosthetic work.

What you’ll be able to do
- Explain how the postural tonic system and muscle chains interact with the jaw
- Use posturometry and clinical tests to reach a postural diagnosis
- Relate mandibular posture to vertical dimension before changing either
- Read muscular patterns as an index of occlusal balance or overload
- Plan splint therapy that addresses both the TMJ and the occlusion
Inside the course
Posturology for dentists
The first half introduces posturology, the tonic postural system, clinical diagnosis and instrument-based posturometry, and shows how muscle chains carry imbalance between body and jaw.
The masticatory system under load
Lessons on mandibular posture, vertical dimension, prevention and treatment look at how to avoid harming the patient with excessive orthopedic correction and how to prevent repeated breakdown of restorations.
Joint, occlusion and digital records
Two TMJ lessons include a comparison of virtual face-bow and scanner-based jaw tracking with silicone records, followed by occlusion, muscular patterns, splints and a closing discussion of how posture and occlusion influence each other.
The instructors
Di Rocca trained in functional orthopedics in Buenos Aires and directs an international school of myofunctional postural rehabilitation; Nanussi teaches articulators and gnathology in Milan and co-authored a book on dentistry and sport.

- Gnathologists and TMD cliniciansAdds a whole-body postural perspective to jaw assessment.
- Prosthodontists changing vertical dimensionHelps set safe limits for orthopedic repositioning.
- Dentists working with osteopaths or physiotherapistsShared language on posture and muscle chains.

Before you buy
Is posturology evidence-based enough for a dental practice?
The course presents the authors’ clinical philosophy; the link between posture and occlusion remains debated, so view it as one school of thought.
Are the lectures delivered in English?
The language of the recordings is not specified; both instructors are Italian-based, so expect accented English or possible translation.
Do I get CME credit or a certificate?
No. Clinicapedia provides the educational content only — no CME or CE credits, MOC points or certificates of completion are included with this product.
