Joint, airway and bite in one programme — OCTA occlusal design, TMJ imaging, biomechanics and sleep-disordered breathing
Nine clinicians from orthopaedic manual therapy, radiology, maxillofacial surgery, orthodontics and myofunctional therapy teach The TMJ-Airway-Occlusion Connection: Advanced Clinical Protocols. Mariano Rocabado, Jean-Daniel Orthlieb, Kaan Orhan, David Ângelo, Stanislav Blum and colleagues fill seven modules and 19 lessons (23 h 10 min) with occlusal architecture for adults, breathing and sleep, CBCT and MRI of the joint, mandibular mechanics, current TMD management and team planning of the occlusal plane.

What you’ll be able to do
- Design adult occlusion with the eight OCTA criteria, from reference plane to curves of Spee and Wilson
- Recognise how mouth breathing and sleep-disordered breathing distort growth, posture and facial symmetry
- Read TMJ CBCT and MRI for erosion, condylar resorption, cysts, ankylosis and disc displacement
- Differentiate TMD types and choose between supportive, medical and surgical care, including botulinum toxin
- Coordinate the orthodontist and restorative dentist using EMG and axiography
Inside the course
Building the occlusion
Orthlieb’s OCTA module questions “zero occlusion”, sets reconstruction goals as an architectural plan and walks through recording the reference plane, reference and therapeutic positions, VDO, anterior tooth position, occlusal plane inclination, cusp guidance and the guidance scheme — including worn dentitions.
Airway and myofunction
Nearly five hours are given to breathing: the effect of habitual mouth breathing on a child’s growth, how TMD and airway problems upset structural balance, and myofunctional strategies for sleep apnoea, dysautonomia and asymmetric facial growth.
Imaging and biomechanics
After an anatomy refresher, the imaging module follows a full MRI evaluation sequence and Rocabado’s CBCT protocols. A biomechanics module then links joint movement to differential diagnosis and to conservative and operative treatment.
Current TMD care and teamwork
A module on contemporary concepts covers joint histology, classification systems, diagnostic steps, medication, botulinum toxin, patient cases and long-term stability. The final hour organises the occlusal plane as a shared task between specialists.
Built for
- Gnathologists and TMD cliniciansSeveral schools of thought on joint diagnosis and occlusal therapy in one place.
- Orthodontists treating adultsOcclusal targets that keep finished cases stable and prosthetically sound.
- Dentists interested in airwayA bridge between sleep-disordered breathing, myofunction and jaw position.

Before you buy
Are individual lesson titles available?
Only the seven module titles and their topics are published; the breakdown of the 19 lessons within them is not listed.
What does the Claudio Pisacane module actually cover?
It is titled as TMJ pathology, yet its topic outline describes endodontic subjects — compromised teeth, trauma, resorption, posterior composites and posts. Expect that content rather than joint disease.
Are some modules also sold separately?
Several modules, such as the OCTA and TMJ imaging lectures, appear to be standalone courses, so check for overlap with titles you already own.
Do I get CME credit or a certificate?
No. Clinicapedia provides the educational content only — no CME or CE credits, MOC points or certificates of completion are included with this product.
