Ultrasound-guided procedures course for emergency and point-of-care applications
This ultrasound guided procedures course from Gulfcoast addresses the diagnostic and interventional applications of point-of-care ultrasound across a range of clinical scenarios. Eight key topics cover foreign body management, musculoskeletal assessment, soft tissue pathology, and orbital evaluation — each presented with the procedural context needed for bedside application.

Inside this resource
Foreign body, fracture, and tendon assessment
The first group addresses ultrasound-guided foreign body localization and removal — a core emergency medicine skill. Fracture evaluation covers the sonographic detection of cortical disruption, and tendon injury assessment demonstrates the imaging approach for identifying partial and complete tears at the point of care.
Abscess localization and joint evaluation
Abscess modules cover both general soft tissue abscess localization and peritonsillar abscess evaluation with ultrasound guidance. Joint effusion and Baker’s cyst assessment complete the MSK applications. The program closes with orbital evaluation — a specialized application for detecting periorbital pathology.
Who this serves
- Emergency physicians — develop guided procedural skills for foreign body, abscess, and fracture evaluation
- Radiologists — review point-of-care applications that complement formal imaging studies
- Primary care and urgent care clinicians — add bedside ultrasound-guided procedures for common clinical scenarios

Fatima R. –
Covers the essentials but at eight topics in a single video the pace is brisk. The orbital evaluation section was a welcome addition to the standard POCUS curriculum.
Andrea G. –
Good breadth across eight procedural topics. The tendon injury and joint effusion evaluation sections are well-demonstrated. Compact and useful.
Mike F. –
Downloaded for the fracture evaluation module. The cortical disruption detection technique is practical and immediately applicable at the bedside.
Daniel K. –
Practical overview of US-guided procedures. The foreign body localization and peritonsillar abscess modules are exactly what I use in the emergency department.
Lynn C. –
The Baker’s cyst and joint effusion assessment demonstrations are clear and technique-focused. Good resource for anyone building a point-of-care procedural skill set.
