Clear aligner therapy step by step — attachments, staging, auxiliaries and a protocol for every major malocclusion
Daniel Souza Pinto Ramos, clinical manager of orthodontics at the DSD Planning Center in Madrid, takes you through Aligners: From Beginner To Expert in 12 lessons and about 15 hours. Four biomechanics lectures on smile-driven digital diagnosis, attachments, staging, elastics and predictability come first; eight protocol lectures then address crowding, Class II, Class III, open bite, deep bite, extractions, growing patients and complex cases.

What you’ll be able to do
- Plan an aligner case from the face, joints and airway using digital diagnosis and DSD inside ClinCheck
- Choose, place and troubleshoot attachments and staging, including sequential movements
- Prescribe elastics, bite ramps, bumps and lingual spurs for specific tooth movements
- Regain tracking and build overcorrection into the plan where the literature says it is needed
- Apply distalization, mandibular advancement and extraction staging to Class II and Class III cases
- Combine aligners with TADs, vibration, corticotomy or micro-osteoperforations when aligners alone fall short
Inside the course
The biomechanical tree
Ramos compares aligners with brackets, explains the biology of tooth movement, and classifies conventional attachments by indication. He covers ideal positions, debonding tips, typical staging errors and how auxiliaries such as hook cuts, buttons and torque bumps change force delivery.
Protocols by malocclusion
Each protocol lesson follows the same pattern — diagnosis, treatment pathways, clinical and biomechanical tips, case brainstorming and the most common mistakes — for diastemas, crossbites, IPR strategy, open and deep bites, and the roller-coaster effect in extraction cases.
Children and complex adults
The last two lessons weigh the pros and cons of aligners in growing patients, then add skeletal anchorage with guided TAD design, DSD live treatment planning and surgically facilitated orthodontic therapy with bone grafting.
