Microimplant anchorage in clinical practice — skeletal anchorage protocols for Class II, Class III and vertical problems
OHI-S Microimplant Anchorage in Clinical Practice: Guide for Beginners and Intermediate is taught by French orthodontist Dr Caroline Cazenave, who combines self-ligating brackets with temporary anchorage devices. Over nine lessons and almost six hours she works through insertion sites and angulation between roots, loading and force levels, then applies microimplants to distalization, mesialization, open bite, deep bite and asymmetry, largely through analysed patient cases.

What you’ll be able to do
- Choose placement sites, mesiodistal angles and loading timing for inter-radicular microimplants
- Decide between single-tooth, sectional and full-arch distalization in Class II cases, and when extraction is the better route
- Combine RPE, MARPE and mandibular arch distalization in Class III treatment
- Intrude molars to close open bites and intrude incisors to level deep bites and Class II division 2 cases
- Control incisors and vertical dimension to encourage counterclockwise mandibular rotation
Inside the course
Getting started with microimplant anchorage
Lesson 1 sets out why brackets and mini-screws work well together, reviews Steiner analysis for compensation cases and traces the move from indirect to direct skeletal anchorage. A clinical demonstration shows insertion between roots at the correct angles.
Class II: theory, then cases
Three lessons are devoted to Class II correction. Dr Cazenave questions whether maxillary molar distalization is achievable, compares segmented and whole-arch mechanics, considers third molars, and then walks through treated patients step by step.
Class III and expansion
Two lessons cover planning Class III correction with antero-mandibular anchorage for elastics, maxillary skeletal expansion and moving the lower arch distally, including decisions about lower third molars.
Anterior segment and vertical anomalies
The final three lessons handle gummy smile, hyperdivergent Class II retraction, long-face patients, asymmetries, and open-bite and overbite correction, with tips on overcorrection, curve of Spee levelling and asymmetric tooth movement.
Built for
- Recently qualified orthodontistsA structured route into temporary anchorage devices, from first placement to complex skeletal cases.
- Orthodontists with some TAD experienceThe case-based lessons on vertical and asymmetry problems go beyond basic protocols.
- General dentists providing orthodonticsUseful for understanding when skeletal anchorage changes the treatment plan and when to refer.

Before you buy
Do lessons 3 and 4 cover the same material?
Their published outlines are identical: both present Class II planning protocols and cases of single-tooth, sectional and full-arch distalization. Lesson 3 is labelled as the introductory lesson, so expect some overlap between the two.
Which appliance system is used?
Treatment is shown with self-ligating brackets combined with microimplants; aligner-based anchorage is not a focus.
Do I get CME credit or a certificate?
No. Clinicapedia provides the educational content only — no CME or CE credits, MOC points or certificates of completion are included with this product.
