Endodontic microsurgery from flap to retrofill — piezosurgery, guided navigation and grafting in apical surgery
Five teachers from Italy, Albania, Spain and Colombia — Angelo Cardarelli, Gurien Demiraqi, Francesc Abella, Paula Villa and Felipe Restrepo — share their protocols in Apical surgery: for endodontists and surgeons. Six lessons totalling 9 h 35 min cover incisions and suturing, piezoelectric osteotomy, static and dynamic navigation, bone grafts, and every step of root-end preparation and filling.

What you’ll be able to do
- Select a flap design for each apical situation and close the wound correctly
- Use piezoelectric instruments for osteotomy and the cortical window technique
- Plan access in 3D and operate with static or dynamic navigation
- Decide between apical surgery, retreatment, intentional replantation or an implant
- Carry out root-end resection, retropreparation and isthmus management
- Choose grafting and retrofilling materials and avoid common errors
Inside the course
Piezosurgery in the periapical field
The opening lesson covers instrument physics, indications, lesions near the maxillary sinus, block cutting by bone type and how apicoectomy compares with implant placement.
Minimally invasive surgery in two parts
Prognostic factors, mandibular anatomy, failed root canal treatment, contraindications and replantation criteria are discussed; the longer second part adds surgical templates, digital planning and causes of surgical failure.
Navigation and grafting
A lesson on computer-guided microsurgery weighs the benefits and drawbacks of static and dynamic systems. Another follows a grafted case from tooth preparation and apex exposure to material choice and closure.
Retrograde filling in detail
The last lesson questions the 3 mm rules for resection and retropreparation, compares bur, piezo and trephine osteotomies, and lists frequent mistakes.
Built for
- EndodontistsA surgical option for failures that orthograde retreatment cannot solve.
- Oral surgeons and implantologistsEndodontic reasoning behind resection and retrofill decisions.
- General dentistsClear criteria for when to refer or keep a tooth with periapical disease.

Before you buy
Do the two periapical surgery lessons repeat each other?
Their outlines overlap heavily; part 2 is longer and adds templates, digital planning and failure analysis.
Is there anything on intentional replantation?
Yes, indications, technique and how to choose between replantation and apical surgery are discussed.
Do I get CME credit or a certificate?
No. Clinicapedia provides the educational content only — no CME or CE credits, MOC points or certificates of completion are included with this product.
