Force systems, torque, anchorage and TADs: Giorgio Fiorelli’s grounding in orthodontic biomechanics
Designed for orthodontists at any stage, Biomechanics Fundamentals of Orthodontic Therapy comes from Giorgio Fiorelli of the University of Siena, creator of the T3do and DMA mechanics-design software. Eight lessons split evenly between principles — planning, predicting tooth movement, torque and anchorage — and clinical application: statically determinate appliances, wire geometry and bends, and skeletal anchorage with miniscrews.

- 4 + 4theory and clinical lessons

What you’ll be able to do
- Design the mechanics of a treatment plan before bonding the first bracket
- Predict tooth movement from the force system you apply
- Control torque and angulation through bracket positioning
- Plan anchorage, including skeletal anchorage with microimplants
- Use cantilevers and statically determinate mechanics for predictable results
- Apply wire geometry and bends to align and move teeth
Inside the course
The principles
The first half covers how treatment goals translate into an appliance design, how force systems predict movement, how torque and bracket placement interact, and which tools secure anchorage.
From theory to appliance
The second half turns to statically defined mechanics, whose forces can be calculated and trusted, then to geometry in alignment, the effects of wire bends and the mechanics of TAD-supported movement.
About Giorgio Fiorelli
Trained in medicine, dentistry and orthodontics at Siena, Fiorelli co-produced the multimedia programme “Biomechanics in Orthodontics” with Prof. Birte Melsen. His interests include segmented arch technique, adult treatment and computer-assisted mechanics planning.
Built for
- Orthodontic residentsThe physics behind appliance behaviour, explained from the ground up.
- Experienced orthodontistsA disciplined way to plan segmented and cantilever mechanics.
- Clinicians starting with miniscrewsHow skeletal anchorage changes the force system.

Before you buy
How much viewing time is there really?
The total is listed as 17 h 05 min, but the eight lesson times shown add up to roughly 5 h 50 min, so expect something closer to six hours unless extra material is included.
Are there written summaries for each lesson?
No — only the lesson titles and running times are available to go on.
Do I get CME credit or a certificate?
No. Clinicapedia provides the educational content only — no CME or CE credits, MOC points or certificates of completion are included with this product.
