Three master ceramists on layering — Oliver Brix, Taylan Sari and Chien-Ming Kang, watch-and-repeat style
In Ceramic layering: protocols of the world’s leading schools, three internationally known technicians demonstrate their layering approaches side by side across nine lessons and more than six hours. Oliver Brix teaches additive layering, Taylan Sari builds zirconia restorations step by step, and Chien-Ming Kang shows the minimal thin-layer technique with multilayer zirconia — each filmed to follow along at the bench.

What you’ll be able to do
- Apply the additive layering technique from dentin to enamel
- Build restorations with multilayer zirconia and a thin layer
- Use the internal stain technique and contrasting ceramic mixes
- Create mamelons, morphology and surface texture that read as natural
- Finish with glaze and hand polishing for the right gloss
Inside the course
Brix on additive layering
Two lessons cover the theory of working with ceramics — shading, translucency, firing and colour recipes — then a full video demonstration of the additive build, from application sequence to corrective firing and polishing.
Sari on zirconia, step by step
Five short lessons walk through a zirconia restoration: the dentine build on investment, mamelon creation, the enamel layer, a correction layer with a halo effect, and final finishing.
Kang on the thin-layer technique
Two lessons explain why chipping and fractures happen, then demonstrate a full ceramic crown in the thin-layer technique with 3D stain illusion and natural surface morphology.
