Massimo Simion on custom titanium meshes and membrane choice for horizontal and vertical GBR
Over nine lessons and 6 h 10 min, Prof. Massimo Simion of the University of Milan explains how he decides between resorbable collagen, reinforced e-PTFE and CBCT-designed titanium meshes in Custom Mesh & GBR Master Course: New Trends in Regeneration. Cases cover dehiscences and fenestrations, the anterior mandible, the pneumatised posterior maxilla, peri-implantitis in an incisor site and a full recorded surgery with a semi-permeable mesh.

What you’ll be able to do
- Classify mandibular atrophy and match the regenerative device to the defect
- Treat small dehiscences and fenestrations with resorbable barriers
- Know when defects beyond 3 mm need titanium-reinforced non-resorbable membranes
- Plan a custom titanium mesh digitally from CBCT data
- Combine vertical augmentation with sinus lift when residual bone is under 3 mm
- Integrate connective tissue grafts and soft tissue handling into GBR
Inside the course
Decision rules by defect and zone
The opening hour sets out a classification of mandibular atrophy and how defect morphology drives material choice, then traces how vertical augmentation has evolved. Later lessons apply those rules to mixed defects in the lower anterior region, split at the 3 mm vertical mark.
Posterior maxilla without a sinus graft
Two lessons look at severe resorption under an enlarged sinus: one where vertical augmentation and sinus elevation are combined because short implants are ruled out, and a bilateral case where targeted vertical grafting lets implants go in without entering the sinus.
Materials and the live procedure
A lesson on barrier properties — occlusiveness, rigidity, space maintenance and integration — accompanies the design workflow for custom meshes. The course closes with a 75-minute ReLIVE surgery showing site preparation, mesh fixation and soft tissue closure for a combined horizontal and vertical defect.

Before you buy
How much of the course is recorded surgery versus lecture?
Eight lessons are case-based lectures; the final 1 h 15 min lesson is a full surgical video with a custom semi-permeable mesh.
Is sinus augmentation taught as a separate technique?
Only in the context of combining it with vertical ridge grafting, or avoiding it altogether in the posterior maxilla.
Do I get CME credit or a certificate?
No. Clinicapedia provides the educational content only — no CME or CE credits, MOC points or certificates of completion are included with this product.
