Sinus lift without bone substitute — Stefan Lundgren’s one-stage graftless lateral window technique, planned digitally
Umeå professor emeritus Stefan Lundgren, joined by Giampiero Ciabattoni, presents Graftless Lateral Sinus Floor Elevation in ten lessons lasting 4 h 47 min. The approach lifts the sinus membrane and places implants in one session, relying on the patient’s own bone regenerating around the fixtures rather than on any graft material. Three lectures cover rationale, technique and complications; six ReLIVE surgeries show guided cases, including bleeding and membrane perforation handled on camera.

What you’ll be able to do
- Explain the biological basis for bone formation under a tented sinus membrane
- Plan graftless LSFE virtually and transfer it with pilot-drill or fully guided templates
- Open a lateral window and elevate the membrane with simultaneous implant placement
- Control arterial bleeding and repair a membrane perforation during surgery
- Select and handle the instrument set used for the protocol
Inside the course
Why no graft?
Lundgren reviews the studies and experiments behind the method and long-term follow-up. The authors argue that published results compare favourably with grafted sinus lifts for implant survival and sinus infection, and that the approach lowers cost for patients.
Technique and trouble-shooting
A stepwise surgical lecture with narrated clips is followed by a session on what goes wrong — heavy bleeding, fragile membranes, implants that fail to integrate — and how to respond.
Six ReLIVE operations
Bilateral cases with 3 + 3 implants, unilateral premolar–molar sites, two implants at 26–27 in minimal residual height, and severe atrophy managed with a surgical guide. Flap philosophy in the posterior maxilla is discussed, and a short closing video shows the instruments and how to use them.
Built for
- Implant surgeons already doing lateral sinus liftsA way to drop grafting and shorten treatment in suitable cases.
- Oral and maxillofacial surgeonsComplication management is shown live, not just described.
- Clinicians using guided surgeryEvery recorded case starts from a virtual plan and a printed guide.

Before you buy
Is the graftless approach suitable for every sinus case?
The instructors present it as their default for most sinus augmentations, but the course itself shows selected cases; clinical judgement on residual bone and anatomy still applies.
Who does the operating in the videos?
Lundgren performs and narrates the surgeries; Ciabattoni takes part in the discussion segments.
Do I get CME credit or a certificate?
No. Clinicapedia provides the educational content only — no CME or CE credits, MOC points or certificates of completion are included with this product.
