Mayo Clinic Echocardiography Board Review 2026 — five days in Rochester for the NBE exam
The Mayo Clinic Echocardiography Board Review 2026 records Mayo’s five-day comprehensive echo course, held from 2 to 6 May 2026 at the Rochester Hilton, as videos with PDF slides. Built around the National Board of Echocardiography exam, it runs from physics and chamber quantitation to strain, valve and structural disease, stress echo and congenital anatomy, with case sessions and hands-on style workshops on the final day.
- 5course days
- 12learning objectives
- May 2026recorded
What you’ll be able to do
- Apply ultrasound physics and instrumentation to image quality problems
- Measure chamber size and LV and RV function to board standard
- Use Doppler hemodynamics to grade native and prosthetic valve disease
- Differentiate heart failure, cardiomyopathy and pericardial causes on echo
- Assess the aorta and recognise systemic disease with cardiac involvement
- Tell congenital pathology from normal variation
Inside the course
Days one and two: fundamentals and myocardial function
Saturday covers LV and RV quantitation, M-mode, Doppler and colour flow, TEE and 3D imaging, the NBE exam overview, physics in practice, contrast and diastolic function. Sunday turns to strain — HFpEF and left atrial strain, cardio-oncology and cardiomyopathies — then amyloidosis, pulmonary hypertension, HFrEF and transplant, LV devices, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and the pericardium.
Day three: valves and structural intervention
Monday is given to valve disease: aortic stenosis and regurgitation, mitral stenosis and regurgitation, and the tricuspid and pulmonary valves. The afternoon moves into structural work — prosthetic valve assessment, interventional and intraoperative echo — before infective endocarditis and a hemodynamic workshop.
Mayo Clinic Echocardiography Board Review 2026 final days
Tuesday covers echo in systemic disease and pregnancy, coronary disease, stress, diastolic stress and hemodynamic stress echo, then the aorta, cardiac masses and simple and complex congenital disease. Wednesday opens with Q&A, works through congenital and valve cases for the boards, and closes with 3D knobology, strain in practice, advanced hemodynamics and point-of-care ultrasound.
