Nephrology board review — every ABIM blueprint topic covered
The ASN Board Review Course and Update 2025 maps every topic to the ABIM nephrology blueprint and has been refined over 25 years of certification preparation. Eight topic modules — from electrolyte and acid-base disorders through glomerular disease, CKD/ESKD, transplantation, hypertension, and AKI — combine recorded lectures, case discussions, interactive games, and ask-the-professor sessions that reinforce the clinical reasoning the exam demands.

Inside this resource
Electrolytes, acid-base, and mineral metabolism
The Na/K/acid-base module covers hypo- and hypernatremia, dyskalemias, and core acid-base disturbances with case reviews. The calcium/phosphorus/magnesium module addresses PTH, vitamin D, FGF-23, magnesium disorders, and kidney stone pathogenesis — all with board-style case integration throughout.
CKD, ESKD, and kidney transplantation
CKD and ESKD represent approximately 25 percent of the board exam content, covering causes, dialysis modalities, blood pressure management, cardiovascular risk, adequacy, CKD-MBD, drug dosing, and vascular access. The transplant module addresses donor and recipient evaluation, immunology, biopsy interpretation, infectious and noninfectious complications, and immunosuppression protocols.
Glomerular disease and hypertensive disorders
Proteinuria and sediment approach, GN pathophysiology and pathology, primary and secondary GN including vasculitis, amyloid, fibrillary GN, and thrombotic angiopathies are covered with live case discussions. The hypertension module reviews essential hypertension, renovascular and ischemic nephropathy, secondary causes, and hypertensive emergencies.
AKI, ICU nephrology, and remaining domains
AKI assessment and management, nephrotoxins, prevention strategies, and acute RRT modalities are paired with ICU-focused cases. The remaining modules address tubular, interstitial, and cystic diseases, pregnancy-related kidney conditions, and pharmacology relevant to nephrology practice.

Some modules feel rushed compared to others — the AKI section could use more depth. Overall solid board prep though.
Joseph K. –
paired this with a question bank and walked into the exam confident. The interactive format keeps you engaged throughout the modules.
Amanda R. –
every ABIM blueprint area receives focused, high-yield coverage. The glomerular disease cases were particularly well-constructed for board preparation.
