NYU Langone Vascular and Interventional Radiology Review 2023 — 19 practical IR talks from drains to TIPS and genicular embolisation
The NYU Langone Vascular and Interventional Radiology Review and Update 2023 is a practice-oriented refresher from five NYU interventional radiologists led by Bedros Taslakian. Across 19 lectures it revisits bread-and-butter work such as abscess drainage, central lines, biliary procedures and dialysis access, while giving newer territory — genicular artery embolisation, lymphatic intervention, pelvic venous disease — the same attention. A three-part portal hypertension series, liver cancer therapy and paediatric IR complete a programme first released on 1 June 2023.

What you’ll be able to do
- Deliver sound periprocedural care and apply current standards for central venous catheters
- Plan portal hypertension interventions: TIPS, direct intrahepatic shunts and transvenous obliteration of gastric varices
- Select locoregional options for hepatocellular carcinoma and handle biliary disease percutaneously
- Offer women’s health procedures such as uterine artery and ovarian vein embolisation
- Manage acute pulmonary embolism and chronic venous disease with catheter-directed techniques
- Approach vascular malformations, lymphatic leaks and adrenal vein sampling in adults and children
Inside the course
Core IR practice
Periprocedural care, image-guided abscess drainage, central venous access standards, biliary work and hemodialysis essentials refresh the procedures most practices perform every week.
Liver and portal system
Three linked portal hypertension talks move from pathophysiology to shunt creation and variceal obliteration, followed by interventional treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma.
Vascular and Interventional Radiology beyond the arteries
Pelvic congestion, chronic venous disease, catheter therapy for PE, mesenteric ischaemia and adrenal vein sampling show how widely modern IR reaches across organ systems.
Emerging and paediatric work
Genicular artery embolisation for knee pain, lymphatic interventions, vascular malformations and a general paediatric IR overview introduce areas many practices are only beginning to offer.
Built for
- Practising interventional radiologistsAn efficient update across vascular and non-vascular procedures in one set.
- IR and diagnostic radiology traineesStructured grounding in the breadth of the specialty.
- Diagnostic radiologists moving into IRA stepping stone into a multi-system procedural field.

What are the two PDFs?
Their contents are not specified; treat them as supporting documents rather than a full lecture handout for every talk.
Is it an up-to-date IR review?
It dates from June 2023. For a case-based alternative, the ARRS Case Review of Vascular and Interventional Radiology 2023 videos are also available.
Does it teach hands-on skills?
It is lecture-based, with no simulation or procedural workshops, and no running times or file size are given.
Do I get CME credit or a certificate?
No. Clinicapedia provides the educational content only — no CME or CE credits, MOC points or certificates of completion are included with this product.
