Jaw functional orthopedics with Patricia Valerio — Planas tracks, Simoes Network appliances and neuro-occlusal rehabilitation
In OHI-S Jaw functional orthopedic immersion, Patricia Valerio distils a clinical career in jaw functional orthopedics (JFO) into nine lessons and just over seven hours. The course explains why posture change and proprioceptive stimuli can redirect craniofacial growth, then shows the appliances that do it — Equiplan, Planas indirect tracks and six Simoes Network designs — with step-by-step photo protocols and long-term follow-up in deep bite, crossbite and Class II cases.

What you’ll be able to do
- Explain JFO mechanisms — muscular rein theory, therapeutic posture change and periodontal and TMJ proprioception
- Apply Planas development laws and selective grinding of deciduous teeth
- Choose among SN1, SN2, SN3, SN4, SN6 and SN11 and Planas tracks for a given malocclusion
- Treat deep bite, crossbite and Class II with a functional rather than purely mechanical approach
- Discuss how mouth breathing and sensory organs relate to malocclusion and why early treatment matters
Inside the course
Foundations of jaw functional orthopedics
Valerio traces JFO from its founders, contrasts orthodontic with orthopaedic movement, and sets out how magnitude, deformation and intermittence of a mechanical stimulus shape bone — with face embryology, muscle attachment anatomy and neuro-occlusal rehabilitation principles.
Appliances in practice
The clinical core walks through Equiplan, bioplastic and bioelastic appliance use, the Simoes Network series and Planas Composta and special indirect tracks, each with indications, application options and long-term results.
Bone biology, genetics and the whole patient
Later lessons go to cellular level — how bone cells sense load through gap junctions and synapse-like signalling — then cover craniofacial genetics, genotype versus phenotype, and the links between occlusion, cranial nerves, vision, hearing, smell, taste and touch.

Before you buy
Are lessons 2 and 3 the same?
Their published outlines are identical: Lesson 2 is labelled the free introductory lesson and Lesson 3 the full version, so expect substantial overlap between them.
Is the systemic content evidence-based?
Lesson 9’s links between occlusion and vision, hearing, smell and taste reflect the functional-orthopaedic school’s viewpoint and should be read critically.
Do I get CME credit or a certificate?
No. Clinicapedia provides the educational content only — no CME or CE credits, MOC points or certificates of completion are included with this product.
