Bring periodontal care in-house — Ziv Simon’s exam, treatment planning, SRP, osseous surgery and hygiene system
Beverly Hills periodontist Ziv Simon lays out how his own practice diagnoses, plans, treats and bills gum disease in Surgical Masters Perio Program, a 31 h 42 min programme of eight modules and 15 lessons. It runs from records and bacterial DNA testing through scaling and root planing, osseous surgery with grafting and a specialist-level hygiene department to difficult cases, with guest lectures and Q&A from Liran Levin, Roberto Rossi, Navid Sharifzadeh and hygienist Robin Watanabe.

What you’ll be able to do
- Run a structured periodontal exam with the right radiographs, interview and bacterial DNA testing
- Sort patients into three diagnostic groups — non-surgical, surgical and complex — with a matching plan template
- Organise SRP sessions: instrument settings, time per quadrant, rinses and quality control of hygienists
- Perform osseous surgery with flap design, ostectomy and osteoplasty, defect grafting and suturing
- Build a periodontal maintenance programme with scheduling, recall and staffing rules
- Manage stage III–IV periodontitis, lichen planus, necrotising disease and drug-induced overgrowth
Inside the course
Diagnosis and the treatment plan
The nine-hour first module shows Simon’s checklist, photo records and the words he uses to explain disease so patients act on it. Module 2 converts those findings into a sequenced plan, with coordinator checklists, medical clearance, pre-operative prescriptions and online plan signing.
From root planing to surgery
Non-surgical therapy is broken down to the ultrasonic device and setting, how to delegate it and when to re-evaluate. The surgical module then demonstrates a predictable osseous procedure, the kit, graft choice, PRF and membranes, and how to explain relapse risk.
Hygiene, hard cases and guest experts
A module on a hygiene department with seven hygienists covers appointment structure, no-shows and productivity. Another addresses biopsies, young patients, anticoagulated or medically compromised patients and combining implants with perio care. Four guest lectures, each followed by a Q&A, round things off.
