Immediate implants from extraction to final crown — a six-hour surgical and prosthetic protocol from three Padua-trained specialists
Prosthodontist Gianluca Paniz and periodontists Luca Gobbato and Fabio Mazzocco split Complete Post-Extraction Implant Workflow into 11 lessons of about half an hour each. They follow a failing tooth all the way through: socket biology and diagnosis, atraumatic extraction, implant position with or without a buccal wall, gap grafting, connective tissue grafts, and immediate or deferred provisional crowns for single and multiple sites.

What you’ll be able to do
- Read socket anatomy on CBCT and by bone sounding before deciding on immediate placement
- Set implant axis, position and head depth in a fresh socket and fill the gap predictably
- Choose between ridge preservation and immediate placement when the buccal plate is missing
- Time a connective tissue graft for extraction, implant or prosthetic stage
- Fabricate screw-retained provisionals and transfer the emergence profile to the definitive crown
Inside the course
Biology and case selection
The first two lessons explain what happens to the alveolus after extraction, which risk factors matter — periodontitis, apical lesions, systemic and local anatomy — and how to extract with minimal trauma.
Hard tissue scenarios
Separate lessons handle sockets with an intact vestibular wall, sockets without one (flap design, resorbable membranes, substitutes), and the criteria for placing an implant anyway alongside socket preservation.
Soft tissue and restoration
Two lessons on grafting bring mucogingival techniques into implant work. The prosthetic block compares deferred versus immediate provisionalisation, ovate pontics and material choice, first for single teeth and then for multiple extractions.
The faculty
All three trained at Tufts and hold PhDs from the International University of Catalonia; Paniz teaches prosthodontics at Tufts, while Gobbato teaches periodontology at Harvard and received an AAP educator award in 2018.

Curriculum
Post-extraction workflow (6 h) 11 lessons
- Post-extraction socket healing: how a deeper understanding of the biological healing process facilitates clinical decision-making (20 min)
- Diagnosis and identification of key factors: how to identify the correct surgical and prosthetic protocol (27 min)
- How to surgically manage hard tissue and implant placement if the vestibular bone is preserved after extraction (27 min)
- How to surgically manage post-extraction implants with no vestibular bone wall; techniques and biomaterials indicated for alveolar preservation without implant placement (36 min)
- The management of hard tissue in post-extraction sites: how and when to combine alveolar preservation techniques to place the implant even in absence of a vestibular wall (25 min)
- Soft tissue management as a key factor for long-term esthetic success: the learning curve of grafting techniques (31 min)
- Soft tissue management techniques around implants: the role of connective tissue graft in extraction, implant insertion or prosthetic phases (32 min)
- When to apply the delayed or immediate prosthetic protocol in single post-extraction implants (38 min)
- Advantages and protocols for immediate provisionalization of the post-extraction implant on single teeth (35 min)
- Surgical management of multiple teeth extractions (37 min)
- Deferred or immediate prosthetic protocol in multiple post-extraction implants (33 min)
Before you buy
Does it address full-arch immediate loading?
No. The multi-tooth lessons deal with several adjacent extraction sites and staged provisionals, not full-arch concepts.
How long does each video run?
Between 20 and 38 minutes, so a lesson fits comfortably into a lunch break.
Do I get CME credit or a certificate?
No. Clinicapedia provides the educational content only — no CME or CE credits, MOC points or certificates of completion are included with this product.
