Four UK specialists on the hard calls in endodontics — diagnosis, emergencies, pain, retreatment and endo versus implant
Tom Brannen, Julian Webber, Giles Round and Richard Horwitz divide the teaching of Endodontics MasterClass: Tipton Training into six recorded lessons, roughly eight hours in all. The programme concentrates on clinical judgement: diagnosing and deciding whether to treat, retreat, refer or extract, handling acute cases, controlling pain, managing failed root fillings, comparing root canal therapy with implants, and treating endo-perio furcation lesions.

Inside the course
Judgement before instruments
The opening 1 h 31 min lays out evidence-based decision frameworks, and the emergency lesson (1 h 08 min) covers rapid triage and relief for patients who arrive in pain or with swelling.
Keep the tooth or replace it?
A 1 h 30 min comparison weighs success rates, patient factors and long-term prognosis of endodontic treatment against implant replacement — a useful counterpoint given one lecturer’s periodontal and implant background.
Pain, failure and furcations
Pain management (1 h 19 min) spans drugs and anaesthetic technique. Retreatment (1 h 37 min) goes from identifying why a case failed to choosing the route to fix it, and a 52-minute lesson addresses regenerative and sealing options in furcation defects.
The faculty
Julian Webber was the first UK dentist to earn a US master’s in endodontics; Tom Brannen holds an MSc in endodontics with distinction and works under the microscope; Giles Round completed an MPhil in endodontics; Richard Horwitz trained in periodontology at the Eastman and limits practice to perio and implants.
Built for

- Dentists handling emergency sessionsPractical routines for the acute patient.
- Clinicians debating implants versus root canalsA balanced, evidence-driven view from several specialists.
