Twin Block, Frankel, Bracco, SARA and TransForce compared — choosing a functional appliance case by case
Six long lectures totalling about 11 hours make up Functional Appliances: From Analysis to Selection, taught by William J. Clark (who developed the Twin Block in 1977), Aladin Sabbagh, David Suarez Quintanilla, Omar Maximino Milia and Andrea Deregibus. Each lecture takes one appliance family and explains its mechanics, indications, limits and sequencing, for patients from the mixed dentition to adulthood.

What you’ll be able to do
- Run a modified or dual-screw Twin Block and transition to fixed appliances
- Use the Bracco function generator for open bite, deep bite and early prevention

- Develop arches with transversal and sagittal TransForce lingual appliances
- Decide between elastics and functional appliances for a given Class II case
Inside the course
Twin Block from two angles
Milia presents his modified Twin Block and its step-by-step sequence, while Clark’s own lecture adds crowding, airway change, condylar remodelling, headgear combinations and a reverse Twin Block for Class III.
Removable systems for growth guidance
The Bracco generator is broken down component by component — bite plate, palatal button, lip bumper, springs and expansion wire. The Frankel lecture places the regulator within current growth concepts, crossbite and vertical correction, and aligner-guided mandibular growth.
Non-compliance and lingual expansion
Sabbagh covers a TMJ screening protocol, the Aquasplint and SARA mechanics for single- or two-phase advancement, molar distalisation and patients with TMD or sleep apnoea. The last lecture handles TransForce sizing, habit correction, canine dystopia and adult use.
Who teaches
The panel spans Germany, Spain, Italy and the UK: a TMJ specialist and orthodontic association chairman, a Santiago professor with 14 textbooks, a Madrid professor and author, and the head of orthodontics at the University of Turin.

Before you buy
Is the ALF appliance given its own lecture?
ALF is named in the course overview, but none of the six lesson programmes is dedicated to it; the second lecture covers the Bracco generator instead.
Can I practise the techniques physically?
The course is delivered as recorded lectures, so appliance construction is shown rather than performed.
Do I get CME credit or a certificate?
No. Clinicapedia provides the educational content only — no CME or CE credits, MOC points or certificates of completion are included with this product.
