Broken files, ledges, perforations and AR-guided endodontics — the Japanese school led by Yoshi Terauchi
Yoshi Terauchi, developer of the Yoshi Loop file retrieval kit, joins NYU associate professor Katsushi Okazaki and microscope endodontist Hidetaka Ishizaki in Future-Proof Endodontics: Latest Japanese Protocols. Eight lessons over 5 h 40 min pair Terauchi’s long sessions on separated instruments and ledged canals with shorter talks on augmented reality, XR and CBCT planning, C-shaped canals and a three-part block on perforation repair.

What you’ll be able to do
- Understand why instruments separate and ledges form, and assess whether a file can be retrieved
- Apply the principles of broken file removal in real cases
- Negotiate and bypass ledged canals during conservative non-surgical retreatment
- Plan C-shaped canal treatment with 3D and augmented reality guidance
- Locate and classify perforations with CBCT and an apex locator, then seal them with MTA
- Picture where AR, XR, AI and IoMT may take endodontic diagnosis and training
Inside the course
Terauchi on retrieval and retreatment
Three hours across two lessons explain the mechanics of ledge creation, the variables that decide retrieval success and individual workflows for difficult retreatments, with case reviews and practical manoeuvres for getting past ledges.
Digital and augmented endodontics
Three short lectures describe how AR widens the visual field, how guides evolved from printed templates to AR navigation, where conventional radiographic reading falls short, and how XR combined with CBCT and connected devices could support diagnosis, teaching and remote help on hard cases.
Perforations from diagnosis to follow-up
Priorities in repair, lateral perforations, classification systems, choice of biomaterials and instruments, sealing techniques and structured recall are shown with patient cases, ending with a retreatment sequence designed to avoid creating perforations and guidelines for MTA use.

Before you buy
Is it really hands-on?
It is a recorded video course; the practical element comes from case footage and demonstrations, not supervised exercises.
How much of the time is Terauchi?
His two lessons make up about three of the 5 h 40 min; the other six sessions are 20 to 30 minutes each.
Do I need AR equipment to benefit?
No. The AR and XR lessons are forward-looking overviews; the retrieval and perforation content applies with standard microscope and CBCT equipment.
Do I get CME credit or a certificate?
No. Clinicapedia provides the educational content only — no CME or CE credits, MOC points or certificates of completion are included with this product.
