Occlusion from the ground up
The opening lessons build the neurophysiological basis of occlusion, define centric occlusion and relation, and show how to record contacts with articulating paper and digital analysis.
Anatomy and forces
Giacomello examines the TMJ, masticatory muscles and the masticatory cycle, then quantifies occlusal load and its effect on cranial pillars and the periodontium.
Diagnosing and treating TMD
Two lessons work through disc displacement with and without reduction, differential diagnosis of muscle versus joint pain, splint therapy, and his PRGF injection technique for the joint.
About Maurizio Giacomello
An adjunct professor of gnathology at Milan-Bicocca, he developed a method of treating TMD with intra-articular platelet-rich growth-factor injections.
