Spot it, biopsy it, manage it — oral lesions from leukoplakia to osteonecrosis, with live biopsy surgery
Milan oral medicine specialists Giovanni Lodi, editor of the journal Oral Diseases, Roberto Franchini and Alberto Pispero aim to make general practices more self-reliant in Oral Medicine & Pathology Masterclass: From Lesion Recognition to Biopsy. Two modules and 17 lessons, about 8 hours 20 minutes, combine theory on potentially malignant disorders, oral cancer, HPV, giant cell granuloma and jaw osteonecrosis with filmed incisional and excisional biopsies.

What you’ll be able to do
- Carry out a systematic oral mucosal examination on every patient
- Recognise oral cancer and potentially malignant lesions such as leukoplakia and lichen planus
- Apply the 14-day rule to decide when a lesion needs biopsy or referral
- Choose between incisional and excisional biopsy and perform them safely
- Assess risk and manage medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw
Inside the course
Core pathology (5 h 14 min)
Nine lessons cover osteonecrosis risk factors and diagnosis, biopsy choices, leukoplakia and lichen planus, the mouth as a mirror of systemic disease, early oral cancer, giant cell granuloma, HPV-related lesions and how to structure a complete examination.
Applied practice (3 h 03 min)
The second module turns to decision-making — the 14-day review of suspicious lesions, current cancer risk factors and complex osteonecrosis — then shows five real procedures: biopsies of white lesions including one on the tongue, excision of a giant cell granuloma, lipoma removal and a full excisional protocol with follow-up.
The team
Lodi completed his PhD at the Eastman Dental Institute in London and has written over 200 articles; Franchini has worked in the oral pathology clinic at San Paolo Hospital since 2003; together with Pispero they founded a non-profit working against oral cancer.

Before you buy
Does the course replace referral to an oral medicine specialist?
No. It helps you examine, biopsy straightforward lesions and triage correctly; malignant or complex cases still belong with specialists.
What does “ReLIVE” mean here?
These are recorded surgeries filmed in real time and replayed with commentary, not live broadcasts.
Do I get CME credit or a certificate?
No. Clinicapedia provides the educational content only — no CME or CE credits, MOC points or certificates of completion are included with this product.
