Back-tooth restorations that last — Lincoln Harris and Pasquale Venuti on planning, isolation, cracks and vertical preps
Australian general dentist Lincoln Harris and Italian clinician Pasquale Venuti, a co-founder of the Tomorrow Tooth group, teach molar and premolar care as a chain of decisions in Posterior Dentistry. Thirteen parts (12 h 30 min) run from outcome-based planning and consent to anaesthesia, rubber dam and matrices, Class II technique, fracture mechanics, vertical preparations, posts and indirect bonding.

What you’ll be able to do
- Plan posterior cases that respect patient autonomy, wear, cracks, caries and cost
- Protect remaining structure by prioritising ferrule, retention and resistance
- Achieve reliable anaesthesia, including intraosseous injections for hot teeth
- Choose clamps, split dam, wedges and matrix systems for predictable contacts
- Diagnose and manage cracked teeth using fracture-mechanics principles
- Prepare with a vertical, edgeless protocol and weigh extrusion against crown lengthening
Inside the course
Thinking before cutting
The first parts contrast paternalistic and autonomy-based planning, list warning signs such as parafunction and biotype, and explain the golden rule of adding steps for precision, direct versus indirect choices, bonding and cementation.
Pain control and reasoning
Local and intraosseous anaesthesia and patient management lead into process- versus outcome-based reasoning and the three enemies of teeth: caries, structural bending and material fatigue.
Isolation, matrices and Class II work
Several hours cover rubber dam step by step, Teflon and cord, diagnosing decay and cracks, matrix science, Bioclear-style injection moulding, cavity design and failure patterns of adhesive restorations.
Crowns, posts and tissue control
The later parts detail vertical preparation, deep margins, burs, the “no post, no crown” philosophy, lab communication, a full crown protocol with checklists, biologic width, cusp building and bonding of direct and indirect work.
Built for
- General dentistsMolars and premolars make up most daily restorative work, and this course targets exactly that.
- Restorative clinicians rethinking crownsClear arguments on when bonding beats full coverage.

Before you buy
Are the part outlines detailed or just keywords?
Mostly short keywords taken from the lecture slides, so the curriculum below reads as a list of topics rather than full lesson titles.
Which products are named?
Examples include Bioclear matrices, a Kmet ceramic slow-speed bur for intraosseous access and Trello for clinical checklists.
Do I get CME credit or a certificate?
No. Clinicapedia provides the educational content only — no CME or CE credits, MOC points or certificates of completion are included with this product.
