Sadao Sato’s occlusal plane concept in 22 lessons — early treatment, Class II and III, MLD, TMD and MEAW mechanics
Built around the teaching of Sadao Sato, the Sadao Sato Online school brings together eight lecturers who apply his cranio-mandibular approach in 22 lessons and just over 49 hours. The four themes — early orthodontic therapy, malocclusion correction via the occlusal plane, orthodontics for TMD and bruxism, and MEAW with alternative archwire techniques — link orthodontics, prosthodontics and functional dentistry.

What you’ll be able to do
- Read the posterior occlusal plane, VDO and disocclusion angle as drivers of skeletal pattern
- Find a therapeutic mandibular position with a reference-position algorithm
- Plan early two-phase treatment of Class II and III with pads, overlays and expansion
- Correct open bite, low- and high-angle malocclusion and lateral displacement with MEAW or Gummetal wires
- Screen orthodontic patients for TMD and bruxism with articulator mounting and BruxChecker
Inside the course
Principles of cranio-mandibular orthodontics
The first lessons explain sequential guidance, centric relation versus reference position, and the idea of bruxism as a stress-management function of the masticatory organ. They show how occlusal plane types (GOP, AOP, POP) and posterior discrepancy shape Class II and III development.
Growing patients
Several lectures deal with children: TMJ signs and radiographic criteria, mandatory study models, removal of primary incisors, overlays for 3D mandibular repositioning, mouth breathing, condylar growth and the typical errors of early treatment.
Malocclusion by type
Dedicated lessons work through open bite, Class II repositioning therapy, mandibular lateral displacement, low-angle and high-angle cases, each with cephalometrics, biomechanics and treated cases — including 12 years of follow-up with the Sato technique.
Wire mechanics, aligners and TMD
MEAW, Gummetal archwires, the Mulligan arch and asymmetric utility arches are compared, aligner biomechanics are reviewed, and the Vienna concept frames orthodontic care in patients with joint dysfunction.
Built for
- OrthodontistsA full grounding in the Sato and Slavicek school of occlusion-driven treatment.
- Prosthodontists and gnathologistsHow orthodontic changes to the occlusal plane prepare the mouth for rehabilitation.
- Clinicians treating TMD patientsWhere tooth movement helps joint and muscle symptoms, and where its limits lie.

Before you buy
Does Sadao Sato present every lesson himself?
No. The programme follows his concept, but the teaching is shared among eight lecturers; the individual speakers per lesson are not named.
Are the lessons grouped into the four themes?
The 22 lectures are delivered as one numbered sequence, and some topics such as Class II and MEAW are revisited by different speakers.
Do I get CME credit or a certificate?
No. Clinicapedia provides the educational content only — no CME or CE credits, MOC points or certificates of completion are included with this product.
