Decision trees for complex restorative cases — Spear, Kinzer and Mitrani on planning, presenting and pricing treatment
Seattle clinicians Frank Spear and Gregg Kinzer and Mexico City prosthodontist Ricardo Mitrani teach a repeatable way to choose between treatment options in The Art of Treatment Planning and Case Presentation. The single recorded workshop, close to 12 hours long and supplied with a PDF manual, works through more than 20 clinical decision trees — from too much or too little tooth display to a missing central incisor — and shows how to present options to patients and set fees for interdisciplinary cases.

- Set fees for interdisciplinary cases with more confidence
Inside the course
How the trees work
Each tree is a map of the treatments available for one problem, built around a small set of clinical parameters. Learn those parameters once and the same tree guides you every time the problem appears, with a checklist of what to examine to pick the best route.
From diagnosis to conversation
Patient photos in each tree help confirm you are on the right one, and before-and-after images for every technique support the case presentation. The instructors discuss how emerging materials and methods may change how predictable some options become.
The instructors
Spear co-founded Spear Education and teaches graduate prosthodontics at the University of Washington; Kinzer practises restorative and aesthetic dentistry in Seattle and reviews for the Journal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry; Mitrani has lectured more than 500 times in 30 countries.
