Getting full value from an iTero scanner — scanning strategy, orthodontic tools and digital planning with Christian Coachman
If your practice owns an iTero or is about to buy one, DSD iTero Intraoral Scanner MasterClass shows how to use it as a diagnostic and planning platform, not just an impression replacement. Christian Coachman and guest clinicians spread 22 lessons over six modules and 12 h 53 min, covering scanner fundamentals, the ROI tool and a six-step protocol, scanning demos for preparations, implants and edentulous arches, digital versus analogue comparisons, and restorative and implant case discussions.

Inside the course
Why go digital, and how to start
Just over three hours explain what the system can do, how to prepare before scanning and what to look for when buying. The second module (2 h 44 min) digs into the software tools and a structured workflow that turns the scanner into a planning device.
Demonstrations at the chair
A 52-minute block shows scan paths, capturing difficult areas and typical errors for crowns, bridges, implants and edentulous jaws. A short 21-minute module then compares the “old way” and “new way” for bites, impressions and preparation checks.
Cases, round tables and a meeting session
Nearly four hours of expert discussion include restorative and implant round tables and a lecture by Jacqueline Schneider on scanner-based smile workflows. The finale is a session recorded at a DSD clinics meeting on positioning the scanner within a wider digital ecosystem.
