Skeletal Class II from four angles — gnathology, genioplasty, self-ligation with MARPE, and progressive bite jumping
Recorded as a congress program, Orthodontic Congress in Abu Dhabi gathers four European speakers around one problem: the skeletal Class II patient. Orthodontists Aladin Sabbagh, Armando Dias da Silva and Monica Casadei and maxillofacial surgeon David Sanz spend 13 h 24 min across eight lectures on functional diagnosis, chin surgery, bracket biomechanics and fixed functional appliances.

What you’ll be able to do
- Assemble a functional records protocol with joint and muscle palpation, face-bow mounting and condylography
- Recognise how dentoalveolar, vertical and articular compensation mask a skeletal discrepancy
- Judge when genioplasty is needed to balance the face of a Class II patient
- Control torque, rotation and friction with interactive self-ligating brackets and plan transverse correction with MARPE
- Advance the mandible stepwise with fixed functional appliances and TADs in patients who will not comply
- Retain results and manage relapse with SARA splints
Inside the course
Function first
The opening pair of lectures builds a gnathological workup, links condylar and occlusal plane inclination to function, then shows high-angle, low-angle, open-bite, dysfunctional and early-treatment Class II cases.
Facial balance through the chin
Two surgical lectures argue that chin hypoplasia usually accompanies Class II and that a genioplasty often completes the profile, whether correction is orthodontic alone or combined with orthognathic surgery.
Brackets, expansion and digital planning
One lecturer traces a personal move from Ricketts mechanics to passive and then interactive self-ligation, compares bracket dimensions, and closes with step-by-step cases, miniscrew-assisted palatal expansion and SureSmile planning.
Progressive bite jumping
The final block presents condyle repositioning with staged advancement for low-compliance teenagers, adults avoiding surgery, and patients with TMD or sleep apnea, covering insertion, activation, imaging choices, physiotherapy support and troubleshooting.
Built for
- Orthodontists with a heavy Class II caseloadSeveral treatment philosophies side by side for the same malocclusion.
- Clinicians with an interest in TMD and airwayFunctional analysis and bite jumping for jaw-joint and apnea patients.
- Surgeons working with orthodontistsA clear case for when chin surgery adds to the result.

Before you buy
Is this a structured course or congress recordings?
It is a set of congress lectures, so each speaker presents an individual concept rather than following one continuous syllabus.
Do the two bite jumping sessions repeat each other?
They share one published outline and learning objectives; together they form a single topic of almost four hours.
Which speaker gives which talk?
Lectures are not credited to individual speakers in the program.
Do I get CME credit or a certificate?
No. Clinicapedia provides the educational content only — no CME or CE credits, MOC points or certificates of completion are included with this product.
