Bone recontouring done right — Giovanni Zucchelli on osteoplasty, ostectomy, crown lengthening and altered passive eruption
Bologna professor Giovanni Zucchelli, known for his mucogingival esthetic surgery textbook, teaches Osseous Resective Surgery in 11 lessons totalling 10 h 10 min. Lectures on biological width, supracrestal tissues and papilla growth alternate with commented surgical videos: osteoplasty for bony wall defects, thinned palatal flaps, single-tooth crown lengthening, the FibRe ORS technique and a nearly three-hour perio-restorative case.

What you’ll be able to do
- Identify when osteoplasty for clinical crown lengthening is indicated
- Eliminate bony wall defects through osteoplastic reshaping
- Raise a thinned palatal flap with ridge advancement
- Respect biological width and supracrestal attached tissue during planning
- Predict papilla behaviour after resective procedures
- Diagnose and correct altered passive eruption
Inside the course
Why and when to remove bone
The opening lesson (1 h 38 min) sets out clinical and esthetic reasons for lengthening crowns, with anatomical and restorative considerations, followed by the palatal flap technique used when access and soft tissue handling matter.
Defect elimination on video
A short lecture on reshaping bony walls is followed by a 40-minute commented surgery of the same procedure and a brief introduction to FibRe ORS, which aims to preserve soft tissue.
Biology that governs the result
Nearly an hour on the supracrestal attachment and half an hour on interdental papillae explain why tissues rebound or remain stable after surgery.
Full clinical sequences
A single-tooth case, a 2 h 44 min perio-restorative rehabilitation, a step-by-step resective procedure from incision to healing, and a closing lesson on gummy smiles caused by altered passive eruption.

Does it cover soft tissue grafting too?
Only where it supports resective work; the focus is bone reshaping, crown lengthening and the soft tissue response, not root coverage.
How much of the time is surgical footage?
Four of the eleven lessons are clinical or commented surgery videos, together accounting for more than four and a half hours.
Do I get CME credit or a certificate?
No. Clinicapedia provides the educational content only — no CME or CE credits, MOC points or certificates of completion are included with this product.
