Peri-implant soft tissue surgery from seven periodontal specialists — flaps, grafts, peri-implantitis and failed-implant retreatment
Seven clinicians, among them Marisa Roncati, Roberto Rossi, Hua-Hong Chien and Giorgio Tabanella, share their protocols in Soft Tissue Plastic Surgery Around Implants. The seven lessons run to 11 hours 6 minutes and deal with keratinised mucosa and soft tissue volume around healthy implants, around implants affected by peri-implantitis, and at sites where failed fixtures have been removed.

What you’ll be able to do
- Pick incision and flap designs and passivate the flap before suturing
- Harvest free gingival and connective tissue grafts from palate or tuberosity within safe zones
- Stage treatment of mucositis and peri-implantitis from non-surgical care to explantation
- Rebuild soft tissue after implant removal using the buccal bone balcony concept and Galvosurge
- Cover peri-implant recessions with bilaminar and envelope flap techniques
- Decide when a xenogenic collagen substitute can replace an autogenous graft
Inside the course
Flaps and sutures
The first session covers biological and prosthetic planning, five incision types, palatal sutures and six suturing methods including Laurell and Sentineri-Laurell, with emphasis on how closure affects complications.
Grafting to add keratinised tissue and volume
Two lessons compare split-flap free grafts, connective tissue harvesting with two parallel incisions, de-epithelialisation and the apical pouch technique. Another explains the pink esthetic score, socket classification and five soft tissue protocols from ridge preservation to mixed cases.
When implants fail or become infected
Etiology, classification and four prevention stages of peri-implantitis lead into laser use, surface decontamination and a decision algorithm. The retreatment lesson adds soft tissue mapping, the CIST protocol, implantoplasty and indications for removing an implant.
The teaching team
Roncati has written three books on peri-implantitis therapy; Chien and Tabanella are Diplomates of the American Board of Periodontology; Rossi, Parma Benfenati, Frosecchi and Longo teach postgraduate periodontology and implantology in Italy and Brazil.
Built for
- PeriodontistsSeveral expert views on grafting around fixtures rather than teeth.
- ImplantologistsA way to add soft tissue skills and manage complications on their own cases.

Before you buy
Which lecturer teaches which lesson?
The lesson titles do not name their presenters, so expect some overlap in themes such as keratinised mucosa as each specialist gives their own take.
Is hard tissue grafting part of it?
Only where it meets soft tissue work, for example ridge preservation and the cortical plate technique; bone augmentation is not the main subject.
Do I get CME credit or a certificate?
No. Clinicapedia provides the educational content only — no CME or CE credits, MOC points or certificates of completion are included with this product.
