Tunnel techniques for gingival recession — covered, exposed and micro-grafts with Vincent Ronco’s Belt & Suspenders suture
Vincent Ronco, who developed the Belt & Suspenders suture and the micrografting concept, teaches Soft Tissue Tunneling Excellence: Predictable Aesthetics with CTG in 15 lessons lasting about 7 h 40 min. He covers recession anatomy, palatal and tuberosity harvesting, intrasulcular and lateral-window tunnels, covered versus exposed connective tissue grafts, free and mesh grafts, root conditioning with Emdogain, complications, and three narrated surgeries.

What you’ll be able to do
- Select the right tunnel-based procedure from tissue width, vestibule depth and biotype
- Harvest grafts by single incision, surface harvesting or tuberosity slicing
- Stabilise continuous and micro-grafts with the Belt & Suspenders suture and its modified form
- Decide when an exposed graft with suspended vertical mattress sutures is the better option
- Recognise and manage papilla tearing, suture slipping and graft ischaemia
Inside the course
Diagnosis and the tooth surface
Early lessons define recession, explain why treatment matters, and look at how the cementoenamel junction, non-carious cervical lesions and root prominence change the surgical plan — including using the graft to fill root concavities. A later lesson covers root preparation and the biology of healing after grafting.
Harvest and tunnel preparation
The longest lesson compares palatal and tuberosity donor sites, intraoral and extraoral de-epithelialisation, and how to judge graft quality. Tunnel preparation is shown step by step for the classic intrasulcular approach and for VISTA-type lateral windows when access is difficult or tissue is fragile.
A family of tunnel surgeries
Dr Ronco frames covered grafting, exposed grafting and the advanced tunnelled flap without graft as related operations chosen by anatomy, then contrasts them with continuous and mesh free grafts.
Live surgeries
Three recorded procedures apply the concepts: micro-grafts for RT1 recessions in a thick biotype, an exposed graft for an RT2 case with very thin tissue, and an expanded mesh graft that reinforces the periodontium before orthodontic expansion.

Before you buy
Does it cover implant sites?
The lesson list centres on recessions around natural teeth; no lesson is devoted specifically to peri-implant soft tissue.
Are some lessons very short?
Yes. The introduction and the lesson on the advanced tunnelled flap last about two minutes each, while harvesting runs well over an hour.
Do I get CME credit or a certificate?
No. Clinicapedia provides the educational content only — no CME or CE credits, MOC points or certificates of completion are included with this product.
