Fast smile mock-ups in Photoshop — Edward McLaren and Johan Figueira’s PSD method with library teeth
In The Photoshop Smile Design Technique (PSD), Edward McLaren, former director of the UCLA Center for Esthetic Dentistry, and his colleague Johan Figueira show how to produce a quick smile design using ordinary Photoshop tools. Sixteen chapters over about four hours cover layers, masks, Liquify and Warp, digital bleaching, calibration and measurement, and two complete design walkthroughs, with project files for starting your own tooth library.

Inside the course
Tools first
Short opening chapters explain which images you need, how to arrange the workspace and how layers work, before longer lessons on masking, Liquify and warping and a chapter on importing library teeth.
Getting proportions right
The middle section tackles tilted photos, image alignment, measuring inside Photoshop, width-to-length ratios and tracing individual teeth — the steps that make a design clinically believable.
Two full techniques and the presentation
About 84 minutes follow the complete method twice — once with imported teeth and once by reshaping the existing dentition — and a final chapter covers presenting the result to the patient. Figueira trained at the UCLA esthetic programme under McLaren and now teaches there.
