Inside the course
Occlusion made practical
After a short talk on mindset, Patel explains why restorations chip or need adjusting when occlusion is ignored. He defines the key terms — centric relation, condylar inclination, guidance, lever systems, freedom in centric — and demonstrates a structured functional exam.
Splints, records and mounting
Splint types are compared by how much they restrict movement, then the Michigan splint is followed from clinical and laboratory steps to chairside fitting. Lessons on facebows, deprogrammers, record materials and articulator choice build the laboratory foundation.
Planning and talking to the patient
An hour-long planning session covers diagnostics, keep-or-extract decisions and risk discussion. Further lessons deal with vertical dimension, the Dahl principle, a step list for simple adhesive cases and the way to present fees and options.
Building the new dentition
Tooth morphology and a 100-minute wax-up lead into bonding agents and immediate dentine sealing, anterior build-ups with a clear index, anterior crowns and posts, posterior composites, onlays with deep margin elevation, and a closing note on long-term protection.
