Peripheral vascular ultrasound training for venous and arterial duplex scanning
This peripheral vascular ultrasound training program from Gulfcoast is the first step toward a strong foundation in peripheral vascular duplex and color flow examinations. Ten modules cover Doppler and color fundamentals, venous anatomy with DVT and insufficiency evaluation, arterial duplex protocols, bypass graft assessment, and aneurysm evaluation — all taught in accordance with AIUM and IAC guidelines.

Inside this resource
Venous anatomy, DVT, and insufficiency evaluation
The venous modules begin with anatomy and normal scan characteristics, then move into duplex evaluation of upper and lower extremity DVT. Venous insufficiency assessment and ablation procedure protocols — including pre- and post-procedure evaluation — round out the venous curriculum with practical scanning demonstrations.
Arterial duplex and bypass graft assessment
Arterial modules cover anatomy, physiology, and direct testing with duplex and color flow imaging for both upper and lower extremity examinations. Ultrasound evaluation of arterial bypass grafts provides the protocol-driven approach needed for surveillance scanning in the post-surgical patient.
Aneurysm evaluation and interventional techniques
The program closes with ultrasound evaluation of abdominal aortic and popliteal aneurysms, followed by pseudoaneurysm assessment and thrombin injection techniques. Doppler and color fundamentals are woven throughout to reinforce optimization of system controls for accurate waveform documentation.
Who this serves

Linda C. –
Well-organized course that follows AIUM guidelines throughout. The 10-module format makes it easy to work through at your own pace.
Julia H. –
Good breadth across PV applications at 4.84 GB. The venous ablation pre- and post-procedure evaluation was exactly what I needed for my clinical rotation.
Andrea G. –
Solid foundation for anyone starting in a vascular lab. The bypass graft and aneurysm evaluation sections are practical and protocol-driven.
Peter B. –
Covers both venous and arterial PV scanning in a logical progression. The DVT and insufficiency modules are particularly well-structured with real scan demonstrations.
Raj P. –
Content is solid but the Doppler fundamentals section at the beginning could use more waveform examples. The arterial modules are the strongest part.
Mike F. –
The pseudoaneurysm and thrombin injection module is a standout. Clear step-by-step technique demonstration with color Doppler confirmation.
