Alberto Monje’s class-by-class approach to diagnosing, preventing and treating peri-implantitis
Periodontist Alberto Monje (University of Michigan, UIC Barcelona, University of Bern) condenses his research and clinical protocols on peri-implant disease into Unfolding Peri-Implantitis. Eight lectures and a set of step-by-step clinical clips, about three and a half hours in total, cover risk factors, probing and diagnosis, defect classification, soft tissue conditioning and the surgical and non-surgical therapy suited to each class.
- 8lectures
- 3 h 32 minof video
- 3defect classes covered
What you’ll be able to do
- Tell predisposing from precipitating factors and act on both
- Read bleeding, suppuration and pocket depth correctly, knowing what skews probing accuracy
- Classify peri-implantitis defects (classes 1A–3C) and match a protocol to each
- Plan soft tissue conditioning with free gingival grafts to gain keratinised mucosa
- Decide on implantoplasty, surface decontamination and barrier membranes in reconstructive therapy
Inside the course
Diagnosis and risk
The first lectures review how periodontitis and peri-implantitis management evolved, the diagnostic tools that matter, and how soft tissue quality and site remodelling set the stage for disease. Graft size to offset dimensional change gets specific attention.
Anatomy of the defect
The hour-long third lecture links defect shape, flap design, guided healing and vascular necrosis to bone loss, and explains when immediate implants make sense and why interproximal remodelling should be kept to a minimum.
Treatment matched to class
Monje sets out signs of likely failure, the case for a flat bone architecture, non-surgical options for bleeding and pockets, then reconstructive steps for classes 1 and 2 and combined defects in class 3, including the effect of the buccinator path on vestibular depth. A three-minute wrap-up summarises the decision process.

Before you buy
Is this mainly theory or clinical footage?
It is lecture-based, with short step-by-step clinical clips woven into the presentations.
Does it cover mucositis as well?
Mucositis appears among the diagnostic conditions in the overview lecture, but the focus is on established peri-implantitis.
Do I get CME credit or a certificate?
No. Clinicapedia provides the educational content only — no CME or CE credits, MOC points or certificates of completion are included with this product.
